My name is Laura Beth Murphree. I am 22 years old, and live in Warsaw, NY with my wonderful, God-fearing mother and father. My parents taught me to love the Lord and love people. Those lessons have influenced me in the way I think, act, and interpret things. God has blessed that, and used it to place a strong desire in my heart for missions. This desire has been cultivated and encouraged by my parents and my church family at Full Gospel Community Church in Warsaw, NY.
After graduating from high school, I attended Elim Bible Institute. I knew about Elim through my church, as our pastor and many of the staff had attended there. Elim puts a strong emphasis on missions, and I, under God's direction, signed up for the 2 year Practical Ministry and Missions program. From my time there, I learned about being a servant-leader and developed a strong appreciation for the work of God's kingdom. In 2011, as part of Elim's missions program, I had the pleasure of spending three months in the country of Peru for an internship with Betesda Ministries. There, I realized that my life's purpose is to be a light to all peoples. I felt such peace about where I was and what I was doing.
Early last year, I was invited to return for one year to Peru and continue to help with the ministry of Betesda. After taking some time to pray and talk with my pastor and family, I felt released to say yes! I have been blessed to partner with Elim Fellowship as my sending agency. Under the guidance of God-fearing and caring staff I am preparing for life on the missions field.
